CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2024

Cannes France is typically a quiet and quaint seaside resort. However, when the annual Film Festival rolls into town every May, the city floods with over 200,000 people within the film industry making this event the one of the most significant and populated film industry events in the world. These 200,000 people that come from all over the world to engage in this event can be anyone from directors, studio executives, fans, producers, actors, and more.

The film’s main event is known as a “competition” where films will compete for awards from the Cannes Film Festival which end up being some of the most prestigious awards you can win and acquire within the film industry. The official selection for the year of 2024 has not yet been announced but by mid-April, they should be made aware.

The people who get the honor to select the films to compete in this aspect of the festival are known as jurors. Usually, the jurors are selected through the respect of their peers, previously awarded multiple awards, and the amount of reputable work they have produced. Only one juror identified with the title “president” of the jurors have been selected for the year of 2024. This is Greta Gerwig, also the director and co-writer for the infamous Barbie movie of 2023
