The Mobile World Congress 2015 has come to an end here in Barcelona at La Fira Gran Via. This was the 10th year that this congress was held in Barcelona. In 2005 it moved from Nice, France to the bigger venue of Barcelona, Spain. The congress has expanded from 2000 attendees to this year having a record breaking total of over 93,000 attendees from over 200 countries. More than 2,100 companies came to showcase and exhibit their organizations across 9 halls.

When Mobile World Congress came to Barcelona the iPhone had not even been invented yet (that happened in 2007). The 9 halls gave you looks into wearables, connected cars, tablets, application, accessories, and more. Data rates double every year and it is estimated that by 2020 there will be more than 10 billion mobile devices.

IMG_20150302_120734Samsung debuted their Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6. While Tablets made a debut at the Congress. Wearables were something that all had their eyes on. Mark Zuckerberg talked more about his Internet.org initiative about giving “the next billion” internet.

GSMA Innovation City was talking about the connected living innovations that were on display. Those who attended could see first- hand how our personal and working lives will transform more and more with the mobile connected products. Hall 8 had trainings and forums for attendees from the partners that led the events and conferences. These trainings and forums covered close to every imaginable topic in the mobile entertainment by more than 30 industry partners, talking about things from gaming to mobile entertainment to mobile health. Since these programs were open to all Congress attendees, they were widely attended.

With 10 themed Networking Gardens among the congress, attendees were provided with outstanding networking opportunities, by having business meetings, LinkedIn and the MWC event App.

There was a Graffiti Wall that was sponsored by Cisco that was in one of the Networking Gardens where local artists showed the features of Mobile World congress on a large mural. And attendees were competing against one another through the App, Trivia Crack and having the opportunity to meet up at different locations to see who they were competing against.

Children were also a part of this years Mobile World Congress; they were last year as well. More than 30 children participated in the Mobile Explorers Club. Those who participated were allowed to venture into the exhibition, while also being a part of different activities and workshops of mobile and tech.

Next year the Mobile World Congress will be held on 22-25 of February 2016! What will be unveiled then?
